Frequently asked questions

Is SOLACE a shelter?

No. SOLACE homes are ordinary six-bed houses in neighborhoods, with house rules the residents help set, case management, and a path toward permanent housing.

When will the first home open?

We are raising funds for our first home in Dallas now, with residents welcomed home targeted for spring 2027.

Who will the first home serve?

One population, matched to whichever housing program opens first — for example, homeless veterans. Every SOLACE home is single-population by design.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Not yet. We plan to establish the SOLACE Community Foundation as a 501(c)(3) charitable arm, with its application planned for 2027. Until it is approved, gifts are acts of generosity and are not tax-deductible.

Where are SOLACE homes located?

Our first home will be in Dallas. Homes for survivors of domestic violence are kept at confidential locations for residents’ safety.

Does SOLACE require residents to be religious?

No. We serve residents regardless of faith. Any religious programming in a SOLACE home is resident-initiated and voluntary.
