Apply for housing

Looking for a safe place to stay?

SOLACE is preparing to open its first home in Dallas. If you’re a veteran or someone in need of transitional housing, tell us about your situation and we will reach out as beds become available.

Before you begin

If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Our first home is not open yet; move-ins are targeted for spring 2027. Sending us your information now does not guarantee a bed, but it helps us reach you when one is available.

Who can apply

Each home serves one group

Eligibility depends on the home and the housing program behind it. In general:

Veterans

A DD-214 or VA verification, homeless or at risk of homelessness, and sober or in active recovery.

Survivors of domestic violence

A documented history of domestic violence, a safety assessment, and a referral from a DV hotline or shelter. Locations are confidential.

Returning citizens

A single prior conviction only, no sex offenses, released within the past 12 months, with a parole or probation referral.

People facing homelessness

Income-qualified, homeless or at imminent risk, and no active substance abuse.

Recent graduates

Graduates facing housing instability while they look for work.

Families near a hospital

Family members supporting a loved one during a hospital stay or treatment.

What to expect

How the process works

  1. Tell us your situationA short application, including a background disclosure. We’ll identify the assistance programs you may qualify for and help you apply.
  2. Verify your eligibilityIdentification and documents such as a DD-214, discharge papers, income verification, or court records, as they apply to you.
  3. Meet a case managerA conversation about your needs, any safety concerns, and your goals.
  4. Meet the householdYou’ll meet the current residents and share as much of your story as you’re comfortable with. Residents vote to welcome new housemates; if a home isn’t the right fit, we look for another.
  5. Move inYou’ll review and sign the Resident Agreement, and we’ll build your case plan with you within 72 hours of moving in.

Documents that help

  • A photo ID
  • For veterans: DD-214 or VA verification
  • Proof of income, if you have any
  • Court, parole, or probation documents, if they apply

Don’t have everything? Reach out anyway — helping people sort out paperwork is part of what we do.

Need a safe place right away? For urgent safety needs, such as a survivor who needs same-day placement, staff can approve a 72-hour emergency placement.
